A shed in a gallery

Here are some photos posted by the Bedford Street gallery of my work, in a shed that was painted by SPQR.

David Dipre

Go take a look at the fantastic artwork of David Dipre, an artist (and music maker) “who believes in making things by instinct and not choice. For David, the activity of painting is about pushing past the limitations of ones imagination, to bring back the subject in an unforeseen way.”

He’s recently had one of his paintings at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

A great day to be awake

Yet again it’s been (more than) a while since I last posted – more on that later.

I wanted to post this because I’ve had one of those moments today when I stumble across something totally awesome purely by accident. I’ve gotten into the habit of checking out people who comment on others work on flickr and today I stumble upon the flickr stream of Harold Hollingsworth and artist based in Seattle. Some of his work took my breath away and gave me an instant burst of inspiration. Being a nosey sort I checked out his blog and in doing so came across Slumberland Records and a podcast by Stewart Anderson, a friend of his of the band Boyracer. First, I suggest you go take a look at Harold’s artwork and while you’re flicking through I suggest you listen to Stewart’s podcast, the guy has great taste in music (and he’s from Yorkshire). Then when you’re done, go check out the Slumberland Records site and their podcasts and radio station. Today is one of those days that I’m glad I made it out of bed.

Stefan Joch

I just came across Stefan’s artwork through a project we both featured in and I wanted to share.

There’s a lot of good doodle styled illustration about right now so it’s really nice to come across some artwork that stands out a little more.

Cecilie Ellefsen

The artwork of Cecilie Ellefsen is utterly fantastic.  I love her diorama’s – especially the fox pictured below

Check out Cecile’s blog … discovered at Grain Edit

Dan Thompson

I just love the artwork of Dan Thompson! It’s humorous and has a nostalgic feel that I can’t quite put my finger on. I intend to go back later and have a good old look through his blog.

ILLUSTRATIVE 2009 – Illustrative art festival returns to Berlin

Illustrative returns to Berlin from the 16th of October to the 1st of November -Villa Elisabeth… I wish I was part of it.

“ILLUSTRATIVE showcases an international scene of artist-designers, whose works have been inspired by subculture movements like comic and graffiti as well as by applied arts like illustration and book art. The exhibition explores the merging of infinite materials and techniques in widely unprecedented combinations, which challenge learned ways of seeing – e.g. the latest development, where illustration and graphics are translated into the third dimension, or new narrative strategies in 3D-animation.”
